SummaryResponsible for programming of machines and systems produced at Glassline Corporation. These may be glass (e.g. flat glass) processing machines, food (e.g. fresh produce) processing machines, or packaging machines, depending on the Division. Requires thorough understanding of PLC programming concepts. Depending on skill set, responsibilities can vary. Glassline builds sophisticated PC-based CNC machines, servo/motion controlled machines, and PLC controlled machines. HMI programming is also typically required. Work with Controls Design, Mechanical Engineering, and Sales to understand machine/system requirements. Test machines prior to shipping. Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and assist technicians. Travel to customer sites to assist with startup. Professional demeanor and good communication skills required. Approximately 20–30% travel, typically short durations of 1 day to 1–2 weeks. Essential Functions- PLC, HMI, and possible other types of programming for machine control- Work with Controls Design to ensure hardware includes features required for optimum operation- Assist Assembly Dept. with startup of machine on factory floor- Travel to customer plant sites to assist with install and startup; test to customer satisfaction; report issues- Documentation: Backups and electronic storage of all software/programs/documents on server; develop operation manuals- Phone support for older machines previously programmed by the employee- Possible service, retrofits, reprogramming of older machines Competencies- PLC programming experience – Allen Bradley/Rockwell required; Safety PLC a plus- Servo motion control programming experience a plus- Understanding of CNC G codes a plus- Understanding of machine control hardware and pneumatics a plus- Ability to travel 25–30%- Customer interaction/communication skills Supervisory ResponsibilityNone Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkFull-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5 pm.
