Expected Length of Internship:

  • 2024 Fall Semester – August through December
  • As an internship company, we allow flexibility to enroll in classes while working as an intern, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the essential functions of the position.

Education/Experience:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university program pursuing a degree in supply chain management or a related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Familiarity with logistics or transportation management systems (TMS) is helpful, but not required.
  • First Solar encourages all interns to register their internship with their university.

Basic Internship Scope (Project):

  • The Inbound Freight Logistics Intern will be responsible for managing specific shipments or lanes, including coordinating logistics providers, monitoring shipment status, and assisting in the RFQ (Request for Quotation) bid process & negotiations. Key expectations include the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload. This internship provides hands-on experience in logistics while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Major Project: The intern will implement a process to manage and monitor their assigned shipments and utilize this process to create metrics that can be used to compare the department’s performance against industry standards and identify areas for improvement. Analyzing these lanes will help identify cost-saving opportunities, which will contribute to the department’s overall goal of reducing the cost per watt. This project will provide valuable experience in logistics, data analysis, and project management.
  • Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team.

Estimated Hourly Range:

  • $13.75 - $22.00 Estimated Hourly Rate

  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
