KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Production Mechanic will have a strong focus on managing the line & how it operates, with a particular emphasis on mechanical proficiency.

LABELING

  • Responsible for safe, quality operation of labeling process
  • Monitor labeling schedules and requirements for quality, quantity and safety
  • Fulfill all labeling requirements for Pemberville South based on work orders
  • Work with Shipping, Pemberville Plant Manager and Quality Assurance to ensure good communications, accuracy and high quality final packaging
  • Effectively train all positions on the label line

MAINTENANCE

  • Proactively inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot all mechanical and operational aspects of labeling equipment for Pemberville South
  • Perform and/or schedule preventive maintenance on label line equipment for Pemberville South, ensuring optimal mechanical function. Documentation of preventive and unscheduled maintenance per maintenance program.
  • Communicate equipment or facility issues that may affect safety or production to Pemberville Plant Manager and quality issues to Quality Assurance Manager as appropriate
  • Work with Pemberville Plant Manager to schedule labeling equipment repair
  • Manage/Coordinate waste, labels, stretch film, etc.

COMPLIANCE

  • Responsible for compliance with established standards and procedures involving safety, sanitation, GMP’s, housekeeping, SQF and other facility programs
  • Responsible to ensure finished product meets specification standards in accordance with FDA, USDA, GMP’s, HACCP, SQF, and any other applicable Government or Company procedure or regulation
  • Follow proper procedure and ensure they are being followed by others for production efficiency, quality of product, employee safety and sanitation
  • Conduct quarterly X-ray equipment inspections and document findings.
  • Maintain accurate records by updating Limble CMMS with inspection and maintenance data
  • Oversee and verify completion of cleaning procedures, ensuring all related documentation is properly filed.
  • Lead and coordinate changeover processes to ensure efficiency, safety, food safety and compliance with operational standards.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Lead, coordinate and implement opportunities for improvement as it relates to the facility, Company or product
  • Drive continuous improvement by fostering a mindset of the same any relaying new ideas created by you and/or your direct reports that can have a positive impact on facility and/or Company goals and objectives.
  • Participate in writing, updating, training and compliance with SOP’s and/or safety procedures and policies as necessary
  • Recommend possible improvements to labeling methods, equipment performance and/or quality of product

LEADERSHIP OF EMPLOYEES

  • Report employee related issues to Warehouse Supervisor
  • Ensure that all direct reports have proper tools, training, and motivation to work productively both as part of a team and individually. Functionally cross-train employees to cover absences.
  • Communicate any necessary information to your direct reports and peers through formal and informal means of communication in an effective and timely manner.
  • Work with Warehouse supervisor on any employee productivity issues
  • Train and instruct employees regarding standards and processes. Oversee the instruction, implementation and enforcement of policies of direct reports.

  • Label Machine Operator
  • X-ray Operator
  • Label Watcher

    • Will regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
    • Will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous Label Line operation experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proven troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
