Obtains materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need. Studies market trends, interviews vendors, and recommends sources of supply. Analyzes quotations received, selects or recommends suppliers, and schedules deliveries. This is an on-site position located in North Baltimore, OH.

What You'll Do

Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties but Not Limited To)

  • Receives and reviews requisitions and/or project material requirements for required goods or services.
  • Issue and maintain purchase orders
  • Administers purchase agreements and manages day-to-day relationships with assigned suppliers
  • Interview vendors to obtain product or service information, such as but not limited to price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Expedites orders and requests as needed.
  • Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
  • Creates Request for Quote (RFQ) package and transmits to appropriate suppliers
  • Identify purchasing and cost saving opportunities for the Company and leverage price negotiations, track and report savings to Supply Chain Manager
  • Review supplier quotes/proposals and negotiate purchases/contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Monitors supplier performance and provides feedback to supplier.
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Keeps abreast of market trends, changes in business practices in the assigned commodities, new or altered types of materials entering the market, etc.
  • Analyze and recommend appropriate MRD levels of safety stock or Kanban levels to ensure on time delivery within stated lead time target.

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.

Education / Experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience required to successfully complete the primary accountabilities is indicated below)

Degree: High School Diploma / GED

Years of Experience: 5 Area: Purchasing (MRO and Hardware

experience preferred)

Competencies / Technical Skills

Physical Requirements

  • Most of the time spent sitting and walking. May be situations which require up to 40 pounds of lifting. Must be able to bend periodically. Must be able to see and hear.

Work Conditions

Production Floor / Office Travel: 0 – 10%

Special Work Conditions: Production environment may be dirty and noisy.
