Performs layout, fabrication, bending, drilling, punching, cutting, and welding of steel components in the pre-fabrication area using blueprints and production schedules. Responsible for machine setup, blueprint interpretation, quality verification, and coordination with production teams.

What You'll Do

  • Interpret and comprehend blueprints, including weld symbols, radius, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Work from printed production schedules to prioritize and complete assigned jobs.
  • Verify parts against blueprints before fabrication.
  • Measure, mark, and lay out material for bends, holes, studs, and weld preparation.
  • Set up and operate brake press, drill press, and iron worker.
  • Change dies and perform machine setup adjustments as required.
  • Perform bending operations to specifications.
  • Drill and countersink holes using drill press.
  • Punch holes using iron worker.
  • Cut and trim material using torch, plasma, or saw.
  • Fit up and weld parts to print specifications.
  • Stage completed components for welding, shipping, or next process.
  • Sign off on completed parts and notify QC for verification.
  • Measure and verify finished components within required tolerances (typically 1/32” to 1/4”).
  • Perform rework on incorrect parts as required.
  • Communicate vendor material discrepancies to Production Supervisor.
  • Coordinate with material handler and other departments as needed.
  • Operate forklift and overhead crane safely.
  • Maintain 6S standards in work area.
  • Follow all safety requirements including FR clothing (FR Uniforms are Provided), safety shoes, eye protection, face shields, gloves, etc.

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.

  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs on a continuous basis
  • Manual pushing and pulling of material/product
  • Stand for up to 10 hours a day
  • Ability to work in a dirty environment and under extreme temperature conditions
