About this opportunity:

Cenovus is seeking an Advisor, SCM US Downstream Operations to join our Lima refinery team. In this role, you'll deliver expert sourcing services to key stakeholders across Maintenance, Operations, and Business Development. You will provide Sourcing expertise demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of commodity products, supply chain sources, sourcing strategies and site support.

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct the sourcing and contracting of external goods and services in an efficient, effective, and ethical manner that generates positive value for the global organization.
  • Plan, negotiate, and manage the procurement of goods and services through developing contracts and agreements, including writing terms and conditions.
  • Conduct post-award administration of contracts.
  • Leverage spend data, business requirements, external market data, and other necessary information to develop category strategies and influence implementation across all US sites.
  • Reviews and negotiates contract terms and conditions in cooperation with Cenovus Energy Legal Counsel, Risk Management, Maintenance, Operations, and Technical Services personnel daily.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and effective written documents and correspondence.
  • Possesses strong communication skills, identifies cost reductions, and supports operations.

Who you are:

  • 4+ years of work experience, preferably in a supply chain environment.
    • Legally authorized to work in the US.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Supply Chain or any related field.
  • Knowledge of commodities and categories is considered an asset.
  • A background in oil and gas industry to understand the nature of work within an integrated oil and gas company considered an asset.
  • Experience in refinery operations considered an asset.
  • Ability to work at ease with team members, collaborators, suppliers, and legal counsel.
  • Must be a strategic problem solver with a business demeanor, self-starter, and take initiative.
  • Ability to take challenging situations and leverage problem solving with communication skills to present sound recommendations.
  • Experience negotiating agreements is strongly preferred.
  • End-to-end Supply Chain experience including processes, tools, and the interdependencies between category.
