About this opportunity:

The Electrician works closely with team members to execute all electrical work for the refinery. The role will work to install, troubleshoot, and maintain components of all power and electrical systems at the Toledo Refinery.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to maintain electrical equipment for refinery complex

  • Ability to read and comprehend sketches, blueprints and drawings

  • Basic computer skills to complete required training, retrieve procedures, obtain drawings, and track repairs/materials

  • Able to accurately calculate and perform mathematical problems required to successfully complete assigned tasks

  • Able to read and understand one-line, three-line, wiring and schematic drawings

  • Knowledge of medium voltage electrical equipment rated 480 volts through 15,000 volts

  • Knowledge of 480 volt through 15,000 volt cable terminations and splices

  • Troubleshooting skills for 120 volt through 15,000 volt motor and circuit breaker controls

  • Able to perform switching on 138,000 volt systems

  • Ability to install rigid metal conduit systems

  • Knowledge of electrical components

  • Ability to understand Electrical Area Classification and installation requirement for electrical equipment in hazardous areas

  • Safe working knowledge on NEC and NFPA 70E

  • Ability to understand and apply Cenovus standards

Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate degree in a technical discipline and/or military experience preferred

Experience

It is essential to have one of the following certifications or work experience to be qualified for the role:

  • Journeyman’s Electrician Card

  • Or Certificate of Apprenticeship (Electrician) from a State Certified program

  • Or a minimum of 8 years documented industrial electrical work experience

Additionally, you must have:

  • A valid driver's license at the time of employment

  • Willingness to work 8-hour shifts and temporary off-shifts that may include weekends, holidays and overtime

  • Perform physically active job tasks, involving year-round outdoor work in all types of weather

  • Ability to pass a physical ability demonstration, including but not limited to the ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders to extended heights, turn a valve, and lift and carry up to 75lbs up flights of stairs

  • Willingness to participate in pre-employment testing and screening that will take several weeks to complete
