Cenovus is looking for students seeking an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a refining environment. We are looking for individuals who can bring fresh ideas to the table, and who are willing to learn from some of the industry's most innovative and talented people.

The student will be primarily responsible for desktop support, hardware, and software issue resolution, assisting with the day-to-day support.

What you’ll do

  • Gain experience working with IT in the oil and gas industry.
  • Assist with troubleshooting Deskside software and hardware failures and identifying related network problems.
  • support day-to-day operational activities of Deskside computing, mobile devices, telephony, desktop, laptop, workstations, and end-user support service.
  • Help with the support and maintenance of all aspects of Deskside environments.
  • Build a trusted relationship within multiple roles of business and IT groups.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with current IT Support groups.

Who you are

  • Legally entitled to work in the US full-time for a 12-month work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)
  • Available to begin work in January 2025
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks independently in a high-pressure environment.

Education

  • Must be enrolled in a Computer Science Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
  • Candidates currently enrolled in either a master’s or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered
  • New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.

Working Conditions

  • May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.

Safety Sensitive

  • This is a safety sensitive role and as such you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the Cenovus pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
  • Safety sensitive positions require the operation of a motor vehicle. A valid US Driver’s License with no restrictions is a requirement for this role.
