About this opportunity:

The Senior Environmental Engineer provides support as a subject matter expert for ongoing compliance with environmental regulations with a focus on air compliance. This position ensures that all control, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements related to areas of responsibility are satisfied. The role also provides support for environmental compliance reporting and environmental permitting projects (Permits-to-Install, permit renewals, etc.)

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in release reporting and agency notifications (verbal and written)

  • Participates in spill, release, and emissions event/incident investigations as assigned

  • Evaluates environmental incidents, which includes calculations and classifying emission events. Functions at the primary environmental contact for one of the refinery’s Operations assets

  • Supports the Environmental Department in providing guidance to questions from the technical, operating and maintenance organizations

  • Supports the Environmental Department in reviewing and updating department databases and spreadsheets for completeness and accuracy

  • Compiles and reviews site environmental data and trends, summarize results to identify continuous improvement opportunities

  • Maintains/develops procedures and plans for compliance tasks

  • Provides support to turnarounds and capital projects to ensure environmental issues are identified and addressed

  • Participates in the MOC and PSSR process to identify and ensure that all regulatory requirements are addressed

  • Responsible for any environmental tasks that may be assigned to manage environmental department workload and site environmental compliance

  • Builds, develops and implements projects, programs, and assigned initiatives with support from senior environmental staff

  • Acts as a visible safety leader in the field

  • Prepare and maintain documents such as; compliance reports, incident reports, malfunctions, maintenance notifications, permit applications/modification and other studies and evaluations

  • Supports calculations for emissions events, emissions inventory, TRI inventory, GHG and permit compliance

  • Prepares Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-annual and Annual compliance reports

  • Participates in agency inspections/investigations/audits and prepares responses to agency requests for information, as assigned

  • Conducts field reviews and audits

  • Develops and delivers environmental training to address regulatory standards, site environmental policies, programs and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related Science Degree required

  • Minimum of three years of environmental compliance or related experience required

  • Three years environmental compliance experience in refinery or petrochemical industry (including Co-Op time) preferred

  • Experience with interpreting and implementing environmental regulatory requirements under state and federal programs such as CAA, CWA, and Title V permitting preferred
